It seems like it's been forever since I blogged. I can't even remember what happened to the month of November. It just kind of disappeared. Well, maybe I just don't want to remember the things that happened in November.

I finally got around to putting up the few pictures I took in November. I've added a few slideshows to the right side of my blog - do you like those or are they just annoying?

Search all Picasa photos

I noticed last night that they finally added a community search thing to Picasa. (This means that you can search everyone's photos on Picasa.) So I was searching for some stuff today at lunch. I searched for Spike, thinking that there would be a lot of pictures of pets or people called Spike and maybe some pictures of actual spikes (you never know!). I thought that my Spike would probably show up in the search results.

As you can see, he did. Or rather, we did. The super dorky Halloween picture from last year is the first photo that shows up. 534 photos show up and we're first. I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed or proud.

I'm really tempted to search for "bathroom pics" but I'm too scared to do it. I'm not worried that my bathroom pics will some out at the top of the list, I'm afraid of the pictures other people have labeled "bathroom pics"! I'll have to try it this weekend, when I'm in a safer place (I don't think everyone here at work would like to see scary bathroom pics! lol Or at least I wouldn't want them seeing me looking at strangers' bathroom pics. lol)

Bowl-A-Rama

I went bowling with my buddies Renee & Tim - who I haven't seen in forever - on Valentine's Day. We had a ton of fun. And they let me take goofy pictures of them too - goofy pics of bowling (we look like professionals! ;) ), pics of dancing when we got strikes, and pics of that strange pirate-type face we kept making (I don't know why we were doing that either... lol). There are a few of the very popular bathroom pics too! Pirate faces in the bathroom even! Argh!

I really had a lot of fun with these guys... we need to do it more often!

It's been so long I don't even know what to say. :)

I've added a bunch of pictures to my web albums:

• and a folder for pics of my knit and crocheted stuff (only one thing in there now, but there'll be more in the future I'm sure!)

I finally saw the window washers this morning! I've been waiting to catch them as they're doing the windows on my floor. They are awfully brave - they sit on small wooden seats with no visible safety harness 8 floors up in the air! (they must have a harness but I sure couldn't spot one! and I was too embarrassed to go stand right up by the window and get a closer look.)

I think I may well be in love with the Pirate Captain. He has a fabulous silky beard, likes ham, is really good at mini golf and has a sneer reminiscent of Elvis. Plus he gets things wrong all the time and doesn't really care. He is the Pirate Captain, after all. I'm reading The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists / The Pirates! In an Adventure with Ahab. Both books are bound together as one and it's a great deal at $9.95! It is a completely ridiculous book. It was making me laugh all through lunch! I was afraid my co-workers were going to notice and think I was weird. (but then again, I think they always think I'm a bit weird!)

I definitely have a crush on the author of The Pirates! - Gideon Defoe. He writes completely silly books about pirates. He obviously likes ham. He has a degree in anthropology and archaeology. He likes to include interesting and informative footnotes. I like all those things too. And the little author bio says "His mother does not regard writing stupid books about pirates as any kind of an occupation for an adult." I'm pretty sure my mother feels the same way.

I've added more pictures to my photo album thing, but they're just pictures of clouds and sunsets. I like to take them, that's all. :) I added some links to my photos in the sidebar, too, if anyone is wondering where they are. Or if you just need a Spike fix.

July 4th 2006

Saw my cousins this afternoon - Larissa and Steff were here from out of town and Dewey was there too! It's always fun to see them becuase they are the cousins that I was closest to when I was young. Check out today's pictures in my web album.

I got my invite to the new Picasa Web Album thing Google has so I just set up my first album. Go check it out: http://picasaweb.google.com/spikeandi

I also downloaded and used the Picasa software for the first time too. And it was fun. Probably too much fun. So here's the process:

• Import your pictures into the Picasa software (on your computer)
• Edit your photos, add captions and tags, save in folders
• Click on the "Web Albums" button to upload your pictures to Picasa Web Albums
• Send the link to other people so they can all look at your pics and tell you how fantastic they are

So what are you waiting for? Go! (and yes, tell me how fantastic my pictures are ;) )

I have a couple issues with the Web Albums part of it though. You can add tags to pictures in Picasa, but they don't seem to be used for anything in the Web Albums. 250 mb is pretty small for total storage space. and hello - there's no search function. Come on - no search? you're Google, of all people. how am I supposed to find pictures of other people's cats without searching and tags? And most importantly, how are other people going to find pictures of Spike?!?
